First day in training.

Well, I had my first "training" session today. It was actually more of a set up day. I went to a friend's farm and picked out about 20 large rocks to use for training for two different events. I did one set of one of the exercises and it will probably be the most beneficial. I haven't had a workout like that since college and that was just one set. It was more of an agility exercise. You use the heavy weight, but it is a timed event that takes speed and agility.

The second exercise is all about shear strength and balance. I lift rocks more than half my body weight, carry them a short distance, and place them in position. I will do this one only a couple of times per session due to the level of exertion. as I work up I will eliminate the lightest rock and add a heavier rock at the beginning. I hope to work up to a significant sized rock by the end of the month.

Tomorrow I will find out if I have use of a tractor tire to practice flipping. I am really looking forward to that one. I think that along with the tire I will also add the dead lift that night. Right now I can lift 375lbs on my last set. I feel as though I need to lift somewhere in the 425lbs range on my last set to be competitive. I think I will be able to do it after a couple of weeks practice.

Those are basically the exercises I am focusing on. Oh yeah, I forgot about the school bus pull. I will be practicing two variations of that as well. Sounds like fun!
