These are a couple of pics of a demonstration I gave for our youth group at church. I demonstrated three of the events I would do at a typical strongman competition : Log press, farmer's walk/Tire flip medley, and truck pull.

The log really wasn't a challenge because I didn't have a proper log to press and had to make something to practice with and use for the demo. It only weighed 150# so I did an easy 28 reps in 60 seconds. I have increased the challenge as I will have to do more weight at Haugen.

This pair is of the farmer's walk/tire flip medley. This is a timed event the object of which is to carry the tire 50' one way and then jump over to the other tire and flip it 50' back as fast as you can. Each tire weighs about 475#. Last year at Haugen I did this event in a little over 42 seconds. At this demo I completed this in 26.64 seconds. I also have increased the weight for the farmers walk to get me closer to what I am going to have to do in competition.

The last event was the truck pull. the object here is to pull the truck 50' a quickly as possible. You can't really see it in the picture, but we had the bed of this Quad cab, long box F-350 full of people to increase the challenge. We figured we had a weight of about 8700#. I completed the truck pull in just under 20 seconds - 4 seconds faster than my personal best time. I'm training with a similar truck at 75'.
These last few pics are of some of the kids getting in on the demo. That's "Stuey" in for 10 strong reps with the log. Next up local girls b-ball star C.S. Flipping the nearly 500# tire. Impressive for 5'?" and 100#?. On the truck pull A.G. raced through in 25 seconds. Wow! Now do that at the end of a competition day. Last, but definitely not least, My baby girl - a Little less interested in the whole thing.
