Enter the time machine!

Okay, here's the deal; My wife and I went as sponsors with our youth group this weekend (Aug. 15-17) on their annual teen camp out. We had a blast. Teenagers are amazing people and very entertaining to watch as well. We arrived to Goosberry Falls State Park, on Lake Superior's north shore, at about 4pm on Friday night and played games, pulled pranks, roasted hot dogs, sang songs, typical camping stuff. I got involved in a volleyball game and them a very intense game of Duck, Duck, Goose. I took a hard spill in Duck, Duck, Goose and paid for it all day Saturday. I was tired and so sore I could hardly walk. I kind of twisted when I fell and pulled one of my oblique muscles. At any rate I was worthless and miserable all day.
By this morning, Sunday, I was a little stiff and sore but that worked itself out by mid morning. Even with the lack of sleep and some soreness I felt great and actually went for a hike and climbed some rocks. I know I will be a little stiff tomorrow, but I was glad Saturday's pain past so quickly.
Here are the lessons I learned from that experience: 1. - I am not 25 any more. No matter how good I feel at the time or how badly I want to run with the kids it comes at a higher price these days. 2. - I really need to lose at least 35lbs. I think I would regain some of that lost youth if I lost some weight. 3. - I need to keep up with a regular exercise schedule. I don't do strongman stuff year 'round and I will not be able to do it forever, so getting into good shape now will help me as I get older. And 4. - I want to be in good shape for my wife and kids so that they have a healthy Husband and daddy for many years to come. I also want to do more teen camp outs without all of the pain of getting old and out of shape.
Someone suggested that I should put together the "Time Machine"workout and diet to turn back the clock ten years or so. I'm not sure what or how to do that yet but I'm going to do some research and see what I come up with. Maybe I can at least take a couple of years off!
