For what it's worth...

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, whoever "they"are. Mine might be worth a thousand laughs! I just wanted to give a visual of what some of my exercises looked like.

In the pics with the large round rocks I am doing an exercise similar the "Atlas Stones". Eight rocks are set in a row in progression from largest to smallest. This event is similar to a timed relay. The competitor must move the stones from one position to another in the shortest time possible. The first rock in the progression weighs about 180lbs and the last one weighs approximately 80lbs. After one set of this event and I feel as though I had just run an all-out sprint.

In this Last photo (below) This event Is either for time or distance. The competitor must carry the large flat rock over a certain distance as quickly as possible or carry it the farthest distance. This event is also very aerobic. It pays to have friends who are farmers! I'll bet they never thought their rock pile would be useful in this way!

This is just a small sample of the training I am doing for this competition. I hope to be able to add more photos of some of the other things I am doing to prepare for the big day. The real challenge on competition day in these events is going to be completeing the events with good form and with enough aerobic fitness to make it through the entire day.
