New Confirmation

You know how when you begin something new you tend to have second thoughts after you've already gotten into it. That is how the past week has been for me. I have been checking into strongman info and web sites and realizing that I have a lot of work to do before I am really competitive. Looking at all I need to do in the next several months without all of the equipment seemed really daunting. Daunting, that is, until this morning.

My family and I were planning a long local bike trip today and I decided to work out before hand. It was chest day and being that it is Saturday I do a limited workout. The bench I use is less than desirable. It is an old DP combo bench - far from ideal for real lifting, but until the local school posts public weight room hours it has to do. Anyway, I decided to take a chance and go pretty heavy in spite of my set up. Before I knew it I was doing solid reps with 225-230 lbs. I was shocked and very pleased. I can't wait to see what I can do on a real bench with a spotter.

I still have far to go, but I feel that this morning was confirmation that i am on the right track!
