Progress
There is nothing that spurs a person on to reaching their goals like progress. The problem is that it takes some time before a person begins to see some positive results for their hard work. this fact is true whether you are talking about sports, dieting, career, relationships, etc. Time is a very important factor to success. When I worked in sales my approach was to take time to build a relationship with potential customers. Once I got to know them I could truly see what the needs of their business were and could help them. Some people just teach closing the deal, but I found that if you treat people well and take time to listen to their needs they will come to you any time they need something you offer. The key was to have patience over time and to weather the slow start in order to see the real dividends later. This principle holds true in sports. I hear from coaches that it is becoming more difficult to build a team because kids aren't patient with the building process. They want to jump in and start winning based on what skills they think they have. When they encounter difficulty of find out that it is going to take hard work, they bail. How often is this true of us adults too? I know I fail at this too often. I have grand plans for some venture, but when reality sets in and times are tough I want to back out; or at least I back off and fail to be as aggressive as I should be. The hard times can seem long but that is where the character to persevere is forged. So, keep up the work! Don't give up or even let up a little. Progress is just around the corner and success is just on the horizon.
